I'm a PE and I have to be the middle man between the PM and Super because they practically hate each other. They actually promoted the PM out of his position to try and keep him out of the Super's. Technically we don't have a PM right now.

Jason... I listen while working in a loud environment... Can you bring up the volume on you voice? The music is loud and clear but your speech is a bit on the low side.

As a superintendent myself and working for a power tripping project manager, this hits spot on. I still havnt figured it out.

I think a Civil Engineering degree with a concentration in Construction offers more value than a regular CM degree. You can get a PE license after 4 years also you can get your GC license in a year or 2 after graduation.

It's stressful because people aren't allowed to do their jobs the way they know how. Insurance companies, Construction management companies, and people who have no business running jobs being in charge are what's killing the industry and stressing people out.

Do you have to be an engineer to work on and draw plans for MEP? I have construction and mainly electrical experience but no drafting or schooling. Do you think its possible to get a job without a degree?

Absolutely fantastic channel would you mind please doing some videos on buying out trades/division 2 through division 17, (also assumptions and clarifications )understood that every job is different, but there are things that are very similar in buying out each trade from project to project. CM degree sucks. Please to all my freshman or higher school seniors that want to go the CM route, my advice is to get a civil engineer degree or construction engineer. Buh if you want less maths, I would suggest you get a business administration degree then minor in Construction management.

Thank you for the thoughtful explanation. I have found the same issues but have yet to put into words exactly what ypu said and how you said it. I will look for your book and plan to pose some questions and share some of my own observations on your posts. I have been fortunate to have been in construction for more than 50 years and still going strong. Starting with a Formal 5 year Apprenticeship in IBEW after high school and continuing my education by going back to college when I was 32 to round out my education with a Liberal Arts Degree which I assumed would give credibility to my Apprenticeship as most people do not look at a Formal Apprenticeship as credible. I graduated Magna Cum Laude, Phi Theta Kappa. Most think ypu just pay dues until you graduate with a Certificate as a Journeyman Wireman. All of my Instructors held a Doctorate. Those who taught Welding, Pipe Bending, Math, Trigg, Geometry, Pipe Beniding, Rigging, and much more. It's recognized by the Dept of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeships yet still looked down upon bynso many. I could go on but will save that for another time. I will say I love what I do and I have always looked for the biggest and best work wherever I could find it from Nuclear Power Stations, to Mid Rise , High Rise amd Sky Scrapers, New Hospital work and School Work. Hey, Jason. Great content! I have worked as a commercial construction superintendent in the Houston area for over 25 years. In those 25 years I have seen construction go from a handful of GCs, subcontractors and developers, to an explosion of these professions due to the growth of our area. I feel like the industry here grew too fast and as a result the quality of the work and the trades have went down. One thing is for sure, mid level firms who do the majority of the work in this area have not modernized nor do they follow key principles. It’s truly like the Wild West. I quit working for GCs recently and I’m diving into construction consulting to help smaller contractors and private developers. I have not been exposed to systems such as Lean and Takt before but I am cramming as much of your content as possible to better serve my clients. Thanks for the great content.
